Motion Control Series 1: Open Loop vs Closed Loop Motors

In this article we will compare and contrast linear actuators used for motion control. Simple open-loop voltage control operation of integral DC motor (i.e. no positional feedback) and closed-loop operation of integral DC motor with rotary encoder. Both Motor Drivers and Encoder Drivers provided by Ealing offer a range of travel options from 6.5 to 50mm.
